Tomb Raiding Information

Please be aware that Cambodia can get very hot and humid during different times of the year and it’s recommended to wear light cotton clothes and have a good factor sun cream that will help protect you from the sometimes searing midday heat of the sun.

Also bear in mind that Cambodia is a Buddhist country and many of the temples have a religious significance.  Please refrain from wearing skimpy shorts and revealing tops. By doing this you will be respecting the local culture and at the same time earning yourself a bit of good karma. Another thing to remember is to keep topping yourself up with drinking water, even if you’re not thirsty, and a hat is always a good idea.

As with many historical tourist destinations around the world there are children that will try to sell you handy crafts and postcards. Please be patient with these children as they sometimes just want to practice their English and the small amount of money you might spend on a few post cards can go a long way to help feed their families, but please don’t feel obliged to buy anything or give them money.

You will see its ten towers and have the chance to take some majestic photos looking down onto Angkor Wat bathed in the evening sun light. You can watch the sunset as you look across to the Baray that was built in the 11th century and dug purely by hand. Its purpose was to help irrigate the surrounding rice paddies and supply drinking water to the city.
